The Mombasa Business Awards 2016

The Mombasa Business Awards is the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry flagship awards programme that recognizes and rewards excellence across all sectors of Business in Mombasa. Since 2013, the Mombasa Business Awards has become the premier event of the year, recognizing the achievements and contributions of business men in Mombasa County.

This evening brings together Mombasa business leaders, stakeholders and media for a celebration of excellence in business. Last Years event was graced by was Hon. Peter Kenneth who is an accomplished businessman and former planning assistant minister. Other distinguished guests that graced the occasion were the KNCCI National Chairman KNCCI Mr. Kiprono Kittony, and the CEC for Trade County Government of Mombasa Hon Hamisi Mwaguya among other County Government officials. Twenty one awards were presented and award winners announced on 9th December, 2016 at the Mombasa Business Awards gala dinner held at the
Sarova Whitesands beach resort and spa in Mombasa.

The chief Guest acknowledged the efforts being made by the business community in Mombasa, and encouraged them to have
foresight and innovation in their business He also advised the county government to look into the possibilities of partnering with the business community in initiatives especially infrastructure projects to enable the county to remain attractive for doing business and attract new investors.The turn out for the 3rd edition for the Mombasa Business Awards increased by 67% compared to last two editions signifying growth and momentum of this event.

“We pay a lot of respect to what is happening in many companies, we have excellent people in our businesses and the achievements are really impressive. I think the mombasa Business Awards is a very good stimulus for  companies to always try to improve their results, it’s a way of rewarding them for their great efforts and shinning a spotlight on their efforts and achievements.” said Mr. Peter Kenneth. The Chairman of the KNCCI Mombasa Chapter Mr. James Mureu thanked the business community for their support and promised them that KNCCI events would grow bigger and better. He also thanked the county government for their support and encouraged them to take up the challenge of making Mombasa county a 24hr economy. He commended the CEC for transport Hon. Tawfiq Balala ,who was present, for widening the roads and said much needed to be done on controlling of the traffic. We expect a bigger and better event in 2017, because we intend to have more sponsors on board, add more categories, partner with media and benchmark against similar events in Kenya to make this the premier business awards in Mombasa.
