THE GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS INDEX SENSITIZATION FORUM

KNCCI Mombasa County participated in the Executive Opinion Survey (EOS) for the Global competitiveness report sensitization workshop hosted by Kenya Investment Authority in partnership with the National productivity and competitiveness center.

In preparation for the EOS 2019, the Kenya Investment Authority (under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives) and the National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (under the Ministry of Labour and social protection) sensitized stakeholders on the GCI, its importance, and how to participate in the online survey.

The Global Competitiveness Report 2019 will assess the competitiveness landscape of approximately 140 economies, providing insight into the drivers of their productivity and prosperity. As a growing body of empirical literature shows, differences in productivity are the main determinants of cross-country prosperity levels. The GCI remains the most comprehensive assessment of national competitiveness worldwide.

For more than 3 decades, the global competitiveness reports series of the world economic forum has been providing the world’s most respected assessment of national competitiveness. Competitiveness is defined as the set of institutions, policies and factors that determine a country’s level of productivity. The level of productivity, in turn, sets the level of prosperity that can be reached by an economy.

The Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi, together with the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) and the National Productivity & Competitiveness Centre (NPCC) invited the business community you to take part in the Executive Opinion Survey 2019 to assess the level of competitiveness of Kenya in an international comparison.

This annual survey is a major component of the World Economic Forum’s Global Economic Competitiveness report it provides the key ingredient that turns the report into a representative annual measure of a nation’s economic environment.

The business community’s participation will provide critical information to assess business competitiveness in Kenya that will assist in improving the business environment.
