KNCCI IMPEX CLUB DINNER

KNCCI Mombasa County hosted the IMPEX Club dinner on 13th September 2018 at the Travellers beach hotel which was attended by over 120 Members of the Mombasa business community.

Exports and exporting is a fundamental part of the plan to boost Kenya’s economy. Kenyan business owners can be in charge of profitable businesses that build wealth and that of the country. For us to achieve is this KNNCI has formed the IMPEX Club in order to start a conversation with players from both sides of the government that is the Government and Private Sector players in the import and export business so as to ensure that we shift our attention to promoting finished products or value-added exports . The Government has put in place an Export strategy and the IMPEX Club of KNCCI is the private sector’s contribution towards this effort.

The IMPEX Club will support diversification and expansion of base ,providing trade information on market preferences , ensuring facilitation measures aimed at simplifying, modernizing export processes are critical to successful implementation of Kenya’s export strategy.

We have designed this Club to provide our members with all the practical and technical support they will need to take their businesses to the next level of growth. We will guide them step by step, making their journey to the International Market an achievable goal and helping them complete their very first Export. We aim to do this by setting and maintaining professional standards in International Trade Management and export by providing practical business support services and trainings.

The Chamber is represented in all the 47 county offices. We are in the process of mapping and identifying products that have and export potential. Several challenges have been identified that hinder full exploitation of these products and solutions are being proposed to address these challenges in Private Sector time frames.

We will offer regular trainings to members who are new to exports and also those already in exports. To the new ones this training will include:

  • The principles of exporting
  • Market Research
  • Operational Procedures
  • Risk management
  • Strategy and planning

We are entering into MOU’s with several companies and service providers that will offer preferential rates to our members; these include Courier companies for sending documents and samples, Shipping lines, and Air freight companies.
