The Mombasa Business Awards 2017 Winners

The 5th Edition of the Mombasa Business Awards and Gala Dinner  was held on 15th December 2017  at Wild Waters Mombasa.

The awards main aim is to demontrate KNCCI’s commitment in setting standards of business excellence within Mombasa  County. This event was graced by over 700 business men  from different organisation.

The National Transport and safety Authority was established through an Act of Parliament; Act Number 33 on 26th October 2012. The objective of forming the Authority was to harmonize the operations of the key road transport departments and help in effectively managing the road transport sub-sector and minimizing loss of lives through road crashes.

The NTSA Transport Integrated management system (TIMS) is a free, seamless and convenient portal for members of the public to access NTSA services. This has introduced convince and efficiency oin the Registering and licensing of motor vehicles, Motor vehicle transfers, driving license renewals and many other services that are offered to the public through the TIMS portal. NTSA has brought services closer to the people through the use of technology.

In Partnership with the World Bank Group, the county launched the automation of Business permits that included:

                  3. Outdoor Advertising Permit.

Just recently the department launched an investment portal called “Mombasa Invest “which is now live. The portal is part of the digital reforms initiated by the County Government’s Department of Trade, Energy and Investment meant to provide an online interactive platform for both foreign and domestic investors. The portal will be a one–stop–shop, providing information on investment opportunities available in the County and end to end support from the County’s investment promotion agency, Mombasa Invest.

Mombasa Port Sacco

Mombasa Port Sacco was registered on 7th November 1966 under the Co-operative ACT Chapter 490 with membership mainly drawn from the Kenya Cargo Handling Services Ltd. With the opening of the common bond their Members are now drawn mainly from Kenya Ports Authority, institutions within Mombasa County and across the country, former KPA employees (pensioners) and the business community.

The Sacco has been licensed by SASRA to undertake deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya (popularly known as Front Office Service Activity or FOSA). The Sacco has a membership of 5,500 members as at year May 2016.

The society runs FOSA and BOSA activities with each having its own financial products and services.
Their FOSA commenced operations in 2010 offers deposit-taking services and continues to grow in clientele and  the business volume as well.

Africa Plantation Capital
